Following the tragic death of my son, a stranger’s gift launched my journey of healing
I hope sharing my story of loss, understanding, and peace will help your journey of healing
The days following my precious little boy’s drowning were characterized by a numbing fog. But I have come to understand that in tragedy, God gives us signs of hope and the strength to carry on.
My journey of healing started at the cemetery, following Gerardo’s burial service, when a stranger gave me a book. As my fog-like state persisted, I became deeply engrossed in the book, unable to put it down.
The author’s near-death description helped me visualize my son’s journey to heaven.
The author described passing through a dark tunnel, then seeing heaven. Through this comforting image, a window opened for me. This image allowed me to connect with my beloved son and begin a relationship with God.
I began to move from grief to clarity, understanding, and peace.
Through this image, I realized that my son is still with me – and will always be with me. He is simply in another dimension, like a caterpillar who has become a beautiful butterfly.
As the image of my son in heaven became clearer, I discovered that God was giving signs to me, even though my religious background was weak. As I opened my heart to these signs, I found comfort, peace, and understanding on my journey of healing.
My hope is that you, too, will open your heart to the signs you are receiving from God and your loved one, and you can begin your journey of healing.
